Ferenc Vonderviszt is a Professor, Vice-Rector, and the Director of the Research Institute of Biomolecular and Chemical Engineering at the University of Pannonia. He obtained his PhD in biophysics from the Eötvös University in Budapest in 1989. As a postdoctoral fellow, he spent several years in Japan working on protein-based self-assembling biological systems. His research interest is focused on the understanding of the structural and functional principles of molecular machines working in living organisms and exploitation of the acquired knowledge for applications in bio-nanotechnology. He has about 70 research publications which attracted more than 1970 independent citations. He has founded the Doctoral School of Molecular- and Nanotechnologies and directs the Center of Excellence for Multidisciplinary Research of the University of Pannonia . He is also a scientific adviser at the Research Institute for Technical Physics and Materials Science in Budapest.
